The Gospel of John Cowboy Style

The Gospel of John Cowboy Style is the work of Mel Hooten. It is described as a "Paraphrase of the Gospel in Cowboy Language." More specifically, it is in the "straight-talking dialect of the Texas Panhandle's traditional cowboys." The Amazon page gives this sample:

Ya see, God loves this world so much, that He gave His one and only Son to die, so that every man, woman, boy, and girl who believes in Him will not die, but will be a-livin' forever" (John 3:16).

Simplified Cowboy Version

This version is another one that comes courtesy of the people at the Bible Versions Discussions/Dialogue group on Facebook. The Simplified Cowboy Version is the work of Jake Hershey (Author), Kelli Sullenger (Editor) and Kevin Weatherby (Contributor). The description on Amazon states:

"This paraphrase is not a Bible, but the hope and prayer is that a person might come to know Christ better and open a real Bible and get to know Him."

So far, Proverbs, Matthew and Romans have been completed. Genesis 1 is available on the website of the Campfire Cowboy Ministries:

Word of YHVH Bible

I recently received an e-mail from Mary E. Lewis that she has just finished updating her work, the Word of YHVH Bible. She writes "The most important feature is the Hebrew name and title YHVH Elohim replaces the words LORD and God in both the OT and NT." The Pre-Nicene New Testament

The Pre-Nicene New Testament is a work by Robert Price with a copyright date of 2006. I'm not sure how I missed this one. Thanks to one of the folks in the Bible Versions Debate and Discussion group now we all know about it (Thanks, DJ)! Price is a member of the Jesus Seminar, so expect that brand of "scholarship" and theology. He adds 27 other books to the New Testament for 1200+ pages. There is a review of it in the Bible Versions Debate and Discussion group. I do not have copy yet. It is expensive at $36 USD.

International Society of Bible Collectors

Have you heard of the International Society of Bible Collectors? It started in 1964 and continues today. The society produces the "Bible Review Journal" twice a year. Our yearly conference will be in Springfield, Missouri, U.S.A. In addition to our meetings (and countless discussions about Bibles) we will be visiting "The Passages: Treasures of the Bible." Classic Note Bible

I've seen Bibles with extra margins for note taking. I've also seen homemade Bibles with a blank page in between the pages for note taking. But this is the first Bible I've seen with pages already bound in for taking notes. The paper is standard Bible paper, so it is thin. But it looks a lot smaller than the homemade one I was planning. Knox Translation online

The translation of the Bible by Ronald Arbuthnott Knox is online now at the New Advent website. Knox's Bible includes the apocryphal books. A print edition is available from Baronius Press.

Disciples of Yeshuwa' Mashiyach Translation

This version is the ongoing work of the "Disciples of Yeshuwa' Mashiyach." On their website they have translations from Genesis, Psalms, Isaiah, Matthew, Luke, Revelation and possibly others. The translations use "YEHVAH Elohiym" for "Lord God" and "Yeshuwa' Mawshiyach" for "Jesus Christ." Thanks to GK for this link!

Gospel of God in Christ

Today's entry was sent to me by the translator, Kevin Krall. His work is called the "Gospel of God in Christ." It is "A Synonymous Translation [of Paul's letters] in Effectively Enhanced English." Mr. Krall writes that some of the highlights are:
